About Us

Susan Henry Photography an award winning portrait studio in League City Texas. Originally founded in 1996 on Galveston island, we love our “island roots” and continue to be known as the beach portrait specialist!

I am from Louisville, Kentucky where the Kentucky Derby is run!.  I came to Houston in 1984 to attend the Art Institute of Houston.  I graduated from the Art Institute in 1986.  I have always wanted to be a photographer, well since I was in the eighth grade!

After graduating from A.I.H., I had many wonderful experiences in different fields of photography.  I have been a newspaper photographer, A medical photographer and a P.R. photographer.  But of all the wonderful experiences I have had, owning my business has been the most exhilarating, challenging and rewarding of all.

Every day I tap into the emotional pulse of life.  I might create a  photograph of a proud grandmother with all her grandkids and then next photograph a beautiful giggly baby, and later in the day after school a high energy, creative, “fashionsita” high school senior.

Every day we are privileged to be able to work in a field we are passionate about!  It’s amazing  to be able to capture the love of families, the spirit of high school seniors and the joy of babies.

I know that you want to see real personality of your loved ones, not fake smiles and stiff boring body posture.  And because I have so much darn fun photographing people, they are able to relax and be themselves which makes for the best portraits!

I love my job and if you have ever been around someone that loves their job… you notice that their joy in what they are doing is infectious!

And that makes all of us happy.

That’s my job and I love it. Can you imagine a more rewarding job?

Susan’s photographs have been in Time magazine, the cover of Success magazine, the cover of Galveston magazine, the cover of the Houston Women’s Business magazine and others.
